Dear Chair Srinivasan:

Thank you for not granting Related Companies permission to increase the size of their development at the Superior Inks site, 469 West Street.  However, the proposed building is still too tall, and the current glass-curtain wall design is totally inappropriate for the neighborhood.

Please reduce the generous proposed floor-to-ceiling heights that make this planned 15-story building about 190 feet tall, and eliminate the glass curtain walls in favor of a more appropriate masonry design.  An earlier version of Related’s plans had such appropriate elements, but the most recent design reintroduces the glass walls that would clash with the character of the neighborhood.

Related has been given an enormous gift by having their site rezoned to allow residential development over community objections.  The least that should be afforded in return is an appropriately-designed building with minimal floor-to-ceiling heights, reducing the overall height and impact of the building.
