 The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation is pleased to announce the release of our book Greenwich Village Stories: A Collection of Memories on March 25th.
Published by Rizzoli and edited by GVSHP board member Judith Stonehill, the collection of essays, poetry, and artwork from over sixty contributors reflects on the places and people that make the Village unique.
Calvin Trillin has a story to tell about the Village. Patricia Clarkson has one too. Martha Clarke and Simon Doonan, Jennifer Finney Boylan and Anne Waldman all have stories to share. From icons to local favorites, the contributors to Greenwich Village Stories are part historians and part friendly neighborhood storytellers. Their explorations of Greenwich Village, past and present, make the neighborhood feel personal and universal at the same time.
As part of GVSHP’s mission to preserve the architectural heritage and cultural history of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo, this book collects and celebrates memories of the place so many artists, entrepreneurs, and free-thinkers call home. Royalties for Greenwich Village Stories will go towards the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation.
By partnering with our neighbors and fellow Village enthusiasts, we were able to create a book that not only highlights the landmarks, businesses, and landscapes that make the Village unique but to celebrate the people who give the Village its vibrancy.
