Continuing Education


Shake up your usual continuing education routine! Taught by a talented and knowledgeable mix of professionals in the field, you will learn about the transformative impact of immigration on Village real estate and zoning, the revolutionary role of urban renewal in mid-century city planning and its backlash, the development of the apartment building as the predominate housing form, and practical tips about working with landmark properties.

After walking the Village neighborhoods each afternoon, you’ll end your days with private tours of MacDougal Sullivan Gardens, West Village Houses, and Westbeth Artists’ Residence.

Classes take place in the garden conference room of the historic Neighborhood Preservation Center, conveniently located at 232 East 11th Street bewteen 2nd & 3rd Avenues.

Administrative Policies — Please Read

Registration Cancellation/Refund Policies:  Cancellations must be received in writing at GVSHP a minimum of six business days prior to the start of the course to receive a refund. A $25 service fee will be assessed on any refunded monies. NO REFUNDS or CREDIT will be given for NO-SHOWS.
Course Cancellation Policy:  GVSHP reserves the right to cancel the course if a minimum enrollment of 15 is not met.

Continuing Education Requirements: All real estate licensees must take 22½ hours of NYS continuing education credits every 2 years in order to maintain their license. Effective for renewals on or after July 1, 2008, the 22½ hours of required continuing education credit must include at least three hours of instruction pertaining to fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property.

Course Requirements/Completion: No licensed person shall receive credit for any course or course module presented in a class-room setting if he or she is absent from the classroom, during any instructional period, for a period or periods totaling more than 10 percent of the time prescribed for the course. Once the course is completed and all requirements are met, certificates will be sent via mail within 5-10 business days. GVSHP also informs the Department of State upon completion of a course.  However, the student is responsible for the renewal of their license with the Department of State.
