REBNY, Landmarking, & Affordability
GVSHP and others refute the Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) false claim that landmarking contributes to New York City’s affordability crisis, and reduces the economic and racial diversity of our neighborhoods.
This pernicious lie is just one of many ways in which REBNY is hoping to weaken or undo landmark protections as we enter a new era at City Hall. But GVSHP, working with preservation leaders from across the city, and our allies in the fields of affordable housing, small business, the arts, and sustainable economic development, will continue to push back against these mistruths, and demonstrate how landmark designation can help protect our city’s history and character, aid residents and businesses in preserving and improving their neighborhoods, and promote investment and economic growth. |
