SAMPLE TESTIMONY FOR LANDMARKS PRESERVATION COMMISSION HEARING ON 9-19 NINTH AVENUE
TESTIMONY TO THE LANDMARKS PRESERVATION COMMISSION
REGARDING PROPOSED ADDITION TO 9-19 NINTH AVENUE
May 6, 2014
I urge the Landmarks Preservation Commission not to approve the proposed addition to 9-19 Ninth Avenue in the Gansevoort Market Historic District. This building and site are crucial to the character of the historic district, and the proposed additions would overwhelm the building and intrude upon the open feel of Gansevoort Plaza.
This very large proposed addition seems quite out of place on this building and in this district. The design does not feel comfortable or relate well to this simple but beloved building at this crucial intersection in the heart of the Meatpacking District.
Gansevoort Market has already seen many out-of-place and out-of-character additions and changes. Please do not approve one which would so alter this special piece of this great neighborhood. |
