Meeting on the Future of 'Gansevoort Row' May 8

“Gansevoort Row’ as approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, as viewed from Greenwich Street (l.), and the High Line/Washington Street (r.)

Community Board 2 will be holding a hearing on the restrictive declaration that currently prohibits office use on the site of Aurora Capital's Gansevoort development—the south side of Gansevoort Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets.

Please come to this important meeting:
Wednesday, May 8, 6:30pm
Meyer Hall / NYU Center for Neural Sciences, 4 Washington Place (between Mercer and Broadway), Rm. 102

Over our and others’ objections, Aurora Capital received permission from the Landmarks Preservation Commission to make substantial changes to these buildings, including some large additions and new construction, which are underway.  Aurora would like to fill this space with offices, which they currently cannot do.  However, without such permission, there are many other uses which could occupy the space, including ones which are not necessarily preferable.

The meeting will be an important opportunity to hear more about the Aurora proposal, and what sort of conditions could be attached to it, and what can be offered to the community in return for such a change.
