Pushing Back Against Intro. 775, Anti-Landmarking Bill

Following up on September’s packed City Council hearing on Intro. 775, the “Do-or-Die Deadline” bill which would make landmark designations more difficult and demolition of historic properties easier, GVSHP and fellow preservation organizations have written to City Councilmembers urging them NOT to support any revised version of the bill which contains the damaging elements of the current bill.  In response to the outpouring of opposition to the bill, the sponsors have agreed to make revisions, but there are fundamental problems with the bill which would need to be completely revised in order for the bill, or any bill like it, to become acceptable.

GVSHP sent its own letter to City Councilmembers following the hearing outlining our concerns.  It’s critically important that Councilmembers hear from the public now, so they are clear about what provisions would, or would not, be acceptable in any revised version of the bill.

HOW TO HELP:

Write City officials urging them not to support any revised version of the bill which contains the current bill’s key, harmful, anti-preservation provisions > >
