LPC votes unanimously to designate the proposed 56-building, 3 block extension of the NoHo Historic District
This morning the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) voted unanimously to designate the proposed 56-building, 3 block extension of the NoHo Historic District. GVSHP and many neighborhood and preservation groups and elected officials have long advocated for expanding the NoHo Historic District, which was designated in 1999 but which still left much of eastern and southern NoHo unprotected. While the extension approved today does not include the entire neighborhood or every site GVSHP and others had urged be included, it does significantly extend landmark protections to a rich historic area which sorely needs them.
