On Monday, April 15 at 6:30 pm at the Meyer Bldg., 4 Washington Place (Broadway), rm. 121, the Landmarks Preservation Commission will hold a meeting for property owners within the area they are considering for landmark designation within the northern section of the proposed South Village Historic District (see map to right). This is the next step in the process of the Commission considering the area for landmark designation.
The meeting is designed to provide answers to property owners about the proposed district and landmark designation. It is however open to any member of the public to attend. It is not an opportunity to testify about the proposed district, but rather to ask questions and learn more about the process and the area the Commission is considering.
We strongly encourage all who are interested in landmark designation of the South Village to attend, especially if you are a property owner in the area.
We want to thank again everyone who worked so hard to get the Landmarks Preservation Commission to finally move ahead. We still have a lot of work to do, as the Commission is not yet considering the section of the South Village south of Houston Street or how soon they will vote to grant the area north of Houston Street the landmark protections it needs and deserves. You can find out more HERE.
