Rally to Save the South Village Sunday, April 10 at 1pm

FlyerPlease remember to attend our Rally to Save the South Village this Sunday, April 10 at 1pm. We will be gathering near the Children's Aid Society on Sullivan Street between 3rd and MacDougal Streets to call upon the City to keep its promise to consider landmark designation of the rest of this neighborhood before it's too late. Many historic buildings in the South Village such as the Provincetown Playhouse and Apartments, the Circle in the Square Theater, the Sullivan Street Playhouse, 178 Bleecker Street, and the Tunnel Garage have already been lost, and now the Children's Aid Society campus and 83 Thompson/182 Spring Street are threatened with wholesale demolition and out-of-scale new development. We will be joined by City Councilmember Margaret Chin and dozens of community and preservation groups.

YOU CAN HELP!:

  • Spread the word!  Pass along this e-mail, and distribute the flyer HERE.
  • Co-sponsor the rally – if your group would like to support this effort, just let us know.
  • Volunteer!  We need help the day of the rally -- contact us if you'd like to be involved.
  • Just show up!  Come on Sunday, and bring your most creative signs about why the South Village must be saved!

Please also write to the Landmarks Preservation Commission urging that they move ahead with long-promised and long-overdue designation of the South Village; just click HERE.
