We are pleased to report that Ballot Question #5, which Village Preservation endorsed, passed overwhelmingly on Tuesday. It will grant more information to the public about proposed zoning changes and other land use applications, and more time to review them during the summer months when community boards and individuals may be unable to participate in the public review process.
While only a small and long overdue change to a highly flawed process that needs much greater reform, this is at least a step in the right direction. Village Preservation received an enormous response from the public, hungry for information about this ballot question, regarding our endorsement. While as a 501C3 we cannot and do not endorse candidates for office, we can and do endorse ballot measures, educate the public about the record of their elected officials, and encourage them to vote. |
