We’re thrilled to announce that our Civil Rights & Social Justice Map has now exceeded 100,000 views, as it continues to educate and engage the public around the incredible history of transformative social change connected to Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo.
Any time is a great time to explore this map, now with over 170 entries covering African-American, LGBT, Women’s, Hispanic, and Asian-American civil rights landmarks as well as dozens of other sites connected to social justice struggles for immigrants, Jews, children, and workers. But October, which contains Italian-American History Month, LGBT History Month, Hispanic History Month, and the Jewish holidays, may be an especially wonderful time to do so. We continue to add sites to the map every week; recent additions include sites connected to the Children’s Aid Society (including their only home for girls), Underground Railroad sites, and sites connected to the women’s suffrage movement and radical feminist writers.
