Greenwich Village Historic District Map
Expands With New Tours –
Great Writers Homes & Haunts,
Daytonian in Manhattan, & More!

We’ve just expanded our Greenwich Village Historic District 1969-2019 Map with new tours and entries.  Now, in addition to showing every one of over 2,200 buildings in the Greenwich Village Historic District as they looked in 1969 and today, there are over 800 sites that appear on various tours exploring the architecture, history, and culture of New York’s largest historic district!

We’re especially excited to announce the addition of a Daytonian in Manhattan tour on the map.Daytonian in Manhattan is the blog by architectural historian Tom Miller which provides fascinating and thoroughly-researched in-depth accounts of the histories of buildings and monuments throughout Manhattan.  We’ve added all 210 sites he’s written about in the Greenwich Village Historic District to our map for you to explore and pore over – check it out.

We’ve also greatly expanded our Homes & Haunts of Great Writers Tour with over 100 new entries, covering everyone from Oscar Wilde to Emily Post, Maurcie Sendak to Anais Nin, William Styron to Margaret Mead.

And we’ve beefed up our LGBTQ tour, added tours of buildings by architect Emery Roth and of the ‘Little Flatirons’ of the Village, expanded our tours of the homes of pioneering preservationists, trailblazing musicians, street name origins, and much more.  Check it all out at vparchive.gvshp.org/GVHD50tour
