New Historic Images Added
to Our Historic Image Archive

We’ve recently added dozens of new historic images to our Historic Image Archive from recent landmarks applications we have reviewed.  Some are more than a hundred years old and show wooden houses demolished long ago in our neighborhoods, while many more are from the early-to-mid-20th centuries showing how structures in our neighborhood have both changed and remained the same over the last several decades.  Most are in Greenwich Village, but others are located in Midtown or Brooklyn. See all the latest additions to our historic image archive here.

Our Historic Image Archive consists of nearly 2,000 images from the late 18th through the early 21st centuries.  Mostly concentrated in Greenwich Village, the East Village, NoHo, SoHo, and the Lower East Side, it also includes images from all five boroughs and beyond.  You can explore any of the thirty-six collectionssearch by map, and in most cases order a print, with proceeds benefitting our work.

Explore the entire collection!  And if you have old photos of our neighborhood or New York City you would like to donate to our archive, just email info@gvshp.org to let us know and make arrangements.
