New Additions to Our
Historic Image Archive –
NYC from the 1970s to 9-11, and
Images from Landmarks Applications, 1894-1985 |
|
We recently added 162 new images to our collection Meredith Jacobson Marciano: New York in the 1970s Through 9-11. Meredith has been a resident of the East Village for over three decades, a former location scout, and a keen-eyed photographer. She’s spent decades exploring the city she calls home and capturing its ongoing evolution and transformation.
This latest collection focuses on storefronts from the 1970s and 80s, downtown streetscapes from the 1990s, views from Midtown and Financial District skyscrapers, informal memorials which sprung up after 9-11, New York City artists and musicians, and beloved spots throughout the five boroughs such as Coney Island. Check out the new collection here, and if you like this collection of Meredith’s photos, check out Part 1 here.

We’ve also added more than a dozen new items to our collection of images from landmarks applications, ranging from 1894 to 1985. This includes some incredible views of Broadway below Union Square and Astor Place over the course of decades, the rear of houses on Washington Square, and a Meatpacking District warehouse in the 1940s and the early 2000s. Check them all out here.
