Great New Additions to Our Online Historic Image Archive

Some of the new additions to our online Historic Image Archive.

We just added almost twenty great new images to our online Historic Image Archive culled from recent landmarks applications in our area.  This includes some great images of the flatiron-shaped 53-59 Gansevoort Street from 1936 to 2003 (herehere, and here); the charming houses and warehouses at 18-24 Christopher Street in 1940 and the turn of the last century;  the beautiful rowhouses at 246-252 West 11th Street in 19691940 and 1980; the evolution of the corner of Christopher and Gay Streets from 1940 to 1980 (herehere, and here); the iconic houses at 73-77 Bedford Street (the narrowest house and the oldest house in the Village) in the early 20th century; the Second Empire house at 265 West 11th Street in 1940 and 1980; and the firehouse, Almanac Singers House, and early 19th century rowhouse at Greenwich Avenue and 10th Street between 1926 and 1985 (hereherehere and here).

Our Historic Image Archive now has almost 2,200 images extending from the late 18th to the early 21st centuries, mostly of our downtown neighborhoods and vicinity, but extending throughout the five boroughs.  Explore by mapby collection, and by image.  Prints of most images are available for sale with proceeds supporting our work (check here too)!
