Remembering Regina Kellerman

New York Times Obituary

The Villager Obituary

GVSHP was saddened by the passing of Regina Kellerman in May of 2008. Kellerman was the first executive director of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation and a founder of the organization. She later served as a Trustee and then as a member of the Preservation Committee and Board of Advisors. Her research for “The Architecture of the Greenwich Village Waterfront” formed the groundwork for the later designation of several historic districts in Greenwich Village, including the Greenwich Village Historic District Extension and the Weehawken Street Historic District. She served on the GVSHP’s Preservation Committee until her death.

GVSHP was proud to acquire the Regina Kellerman papers in August of 2008 for the GVSHP archive. With much original building research on Greenwich Village, this collection is an important addition to the collection.

In June of 2008, GVSHP presented the First Annual Regina Kellerman Award to the Salmagundi Club in Greenwich Village at its Annual Meeting and Awards ceremony.

GVSHP offers an array of historic preservation and research resources.
