Critical Chelsea Market Hearing April 16

Chelsea MarketEarlier this week, the City Planning Commission certified the application by Jamestown Properties to upzone Chelsea Market in order to allow a large new office tower and a large new hotel tower to be built atop the historic complex.  Now the official public hearing and approval process will begin, which determines if the zoning change required for these developments will be granted.

The first step is a public hearing and vote by Community Board #4’s Chelsea Preservation and Planning (CP&P) Committee on Monday, April 16th at 6:30pm.  The public will be limited to one minute for their testimony, but can submit more detailed written testimony or questions.  From there, the Committee’s resolution will go to the full Community Board #4 for a public hearing and a vote on Wednesday, May 2nd.

HOW TO HELP:

  • Attend and testify at the Community Board #4 CP&P Hearing on Chelsea Market on Monday, April 16th at 6:30 pm at the Fulton Auditorium, 119 9th Avenue at 17th Street – speak for no more than one minute and submit more detailed written comments.  CLICK HERE for language you can use.

Write to city officials urging them to REJECT the rezoning application for Chelsea Market > >
