City Planning Sole Public Hearing on Proposed Chelsea Market Upzoning 7/25
The City Planning Commission and the City Council must both approve the proposed upzoning of Chelsea Market to allow two large new office and hotel additions to be built atop the historic complex. The sole opportunity for the public to address the Commission in person before they make their decision will be tomorrow -- please come to testify AGAINST the plan, or just come to show support.
HOW TO HELP:
-
Come to the City Planning Commission at 22 Reade Street (btw. Broadway and Lafayette, Chambers and Duane Streets) tomorrow -- the meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 am, but there are several items and Chelsea Market may come later in the hearing. Bring photo ID and 15 copies of your testimony (you can speak for 3 minutes, but written testimony to be submitted can be any length). Sample testimony is HERE. If you can't stay to be called to speak, submit your testimony in writing.
-
If you can't make the hearing (or even if you can!), write the City Planning Commission urging them to vote 'NO' -- sample letter and contact info is HERE.
