Public Hearing on Proposed New Building at 538 Hudson Street in Greenwich Village Historic District

Community Board #2 (Village west of 4th Avenue) will hold a public hearing and vote on this proposed new building on Thurs., June 15 at 6:30pm at the NYU Bldg., 194 Mercer Street (Bleecker/Houston) room 203.Because the site, currently occupied by a disused gas station and parking facility, is located within the Greenwich Village Historic District, any design must be approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, and is subject to public hearings.

The current proposal is for a 7-story, 75 ft. tall 26-unit residential building designed by Morris Adjimi Architects (more info on proposal here). The proposed design has not yet been made public, but when it is, it and all information regarding hearings and votes on the proposal, and how to submit comments or testify, can be found on our landmarks application webpage about this site here.

The public can listen, ask questions, and/or provide comments to the community board at the meeting. The board will vote and send its advisory opinion to the Landmarks Preservation Commission, which will also hold a public hearing and ultimately decide whether or not to approve or modify the proposal.

As with all landmarks applications in our neighborhood, you can sign up to receive updates on this application by filling out the form here.
