Hudson Square Rezoning Community Meeting Tuesday March 27 at 6:30 P.M.

Hudspn Square RezoningGVSHP and several neighborhood groups will host a community meeting regarding the proposed Hudson Square rezoning on Tuesday, March 27th at 6:30 at the SoHo Playhouse, 15 Vandam Street (west of 6th Avenue).

Trinity Realty has proposed a major rezoning of this 20-block area directly adjacent to the South Village, SoHo, the West Village, and the Charlton-King-Vandam Historic District.  While GVSHP and many other community groups have long called for a change to the zoning for this area (current zoning can allow 450 ft. tall buildings), there are questions as to whether the proposed rezoning adequately meets the needs of the community and addresses issues city officials had promised to address.  Additionally, some developers are seeking to weaken some of the modest protections the proposed rezoning would offer.

The plan has not yet been certified, and therefore is not yet in the public approval process.  However, that is expected to happen in the coming weeks.  Find out more now about the plan, what it entails, and how you can affect the outcome – see the flyer HERE.
