We are pleased to report that last week Community Board #2 voted down a requested zoning change and other approvals for a hotel next door to the Merchant’s House Museum which the museum believes will cause irreparable damage to its building. GVSHP also opposed the application and is working closely with the Merchant’s House Museum and others to try to ensure that this precious landmark and public resource is protected.
The community board’s vote is only advisory, however, and the next step in the process is the City Planning Commission. We need to convince this body to also reject this unnecessary and potentially damaging application by this developer:
