GVSHP is very concerned about the plan to build an 8-story hotel next door to the Merchant’s House Museum at 27 East 4h Street. The Museum fears the construction will do irreparable harm to their historic building. While the plan was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission (over the objections of GVSHP, the community board, and local elected officials), the hotel still requires zoning changes to be built as planned.
GVSHP and the Museum oppose these special zoning changes. The application for the changes returns to Community Board #2 on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30pm at Grace Church School’s Tuttle Hall, 86 4th Avenue (11th Street), where it will be voted upon. Please attend this meeting to show your opposition.
