Town Hall Meeting Wed., Dec. 1 on Future of NYU 2031 Plan

Last week’s announcement by NYU in the face of widespread opposition, including from architect I.M. Pei, that they were dropping their landmarks application for a 400 ft. tall tower in Silver Towers was a tremendous victory (read more under ‘Press Coverage’ HERE). But their massive proposed expansion has not gone away. What does this change mean for their huge expansion plans, and what are our next steps?

To try to help answer these critical question and build on the momentum of last week’s victory, the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation and allied community groups will be holding a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, December 1 at 6:30 pm to discuss the implications of last week’s news and the next steps we must take. The meeting will be at Our Lady of Pompei Church’s basement hall, at Carmine and Bleecker Streets (enter on Bleecker Street).

Please join us to find out more about the process, what happens from here, and what you can do to affect whether or not NYU’s plans receive the approvals from public officials needed for them to move ahead.

Download the flyer for the Town Hall Meeting HERE and let friends and neighbors know about it. If you would like to volunteer for the event, please contact us.

Let’s keep our momentum going! We need a big turnout on the 1st to stay informed and send a message about our determination to protect our neighborhood.
