| Save the South Village
As part of our “Save the South Village” video campaign, GVSHP has been talking to noted actors and prominent businesspeople about why the historic, endangered South Village is so important to them, and why the City should grant the South Village the landmark protections it needs right away.
Just as importantly, we’ve also been talking to long-time South Village residents, many with deep family roots in the neighborhood, about what the South Village means to them.

Please join Connie in calling upon Mayor Bloomberg and Landmarks Preservation Commission Chair Tierney to keep their word and landmark the entire South Village.
 Saving the South Village is more critical now than ever. In addition to ever-increasing plans for new demolition and inappropriate development in the neighborhood, the City is considering a rezoning of the adjacent Hudson Square neighborhood which will greatly increase development pressure upon the South Village UNLESS the City enacts the landmark protections for the entire neighborhood it promised to years ago.
The City Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing on the proposed Hudson Square Rezoning next Wednesday, November 28th; soon after the Commission, and then the City Council, will vote. If they do so without landmark protections for the South Village, this historic neighborhood will be destroyed even more quickly.

Come to the City Planning Public Hearing on Hudson Square Rezoning next Wednesday, 11/28 at City Planning's Spector Hall, 22 Reade Street (near City Hall); it starts at 10 and should go until at least noon.
