St. Vincent’s/Rudin Development Scoping

The City Planning Commission (CPC) held a public hearing yesterday on the draft scope of work for the environmental review of the Rudin Company and North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital’s plans for the redevelopment of the former St. Vincent’s campus. Rudin and North Shore LIJ are requesting zoning changes from the City Planning Commission and the City Council, which are essential in order for them to move ahead with their plans for residential redevelopment of the former St. Vincent’s East Campus (the area east of 7th Avenue), turning the O’Toole Building into an emergency care facility, and redesigning the triangle (bounded by 7th and Greenwich Avenues and West 12th Street) into public open space.

This draft scope is a very early stage in the process that precedes the actual hearing and approval process for the requested zoning changes. You can read more about the hearings, the draft scope of the environmental review, and the details of the rezoning and development proposal HERE.

GVSHP was present at yesterday’s CPC hearing to voice our concerns about two key areas in the draft scope of work (read our testimony HERE). For more information on our advocacy work on the St. Vincent’s campus, click HERE.

HOW TO HELP:

Write a letter to the Department of City Planning urging them to amend the scope of work for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the St. Vincent’s Campus Redevelopment project.
