Preliminary Presentation about proposed “Tech Hub” to Community Board #3
Wednesday January 10, 6:30PM

University Settlement, Speyer Hall, 184 Eldridge Street
(between Houston and Delancey)

Oversized development in the 3rd and 4th Avenue corridors in the East Village is accelerating.  And Mayor de Blasio wants City Council approval for a rezoning to accommodate a “Tech Hub” on 14th Street between 3rd & 4th Avenues. If approved without zoning protections for the surrounding neighborhood, it will accelerate oversized, commercial development here.

We need to tell the Mayor that if a Tech Hub is to be approved on 14th Street, it MUST be coupled with zoning protections for the surrounding neighborhood.

Please email Harry if you can or maybe make it.  Leave by 7:30pm if you need to.  We need a strong presence to let CB 3 know that we believe the rezoning for the Tech Hub is ONLY acceptable if accompanied by zoning protections for the surrounding predominantly residential neighborhood.
Thank you to Council Member Rosie Mendez, State Senator Brad Hoylman, Assembly Member Deborah Glick, Council Member-elect Carlina Rivera, Cooper Square Committee, Good Old Lower East Side (GOLES), East Village Independent Merchants Association (EVIMA), Metropolitan Council on Housing, New York Communities for Change, Lower East Side Power Partnership, East Village Community Coalition, Lower East Side Preservation Initiative, Bowery Alliance of Neighbors, Historic Districts Council, Vision Urbana , Loisaida Inc., The 10th & Stuyvesant Streets Block Association,  and hundreds of local residents for supporting our proposed 3rd/4th Avenue rezoning.  Let me know if you want to add your organization or association to this growing list.  And we translated our informational presentation into Spanish and Chinese.   And for the latest updates on this effort visit here.

Thank you for all your support and engagement in 2017 and to come.
