Critical Public Hearing: Save the South Village/Don’t “Midtown” Hudson Square

The City is moving ahead with a plan to rezone Hudson Square, but without necessary landmark protections for the neighboring South Village and appropriate height limits for new development.

PLEASE COME TO AN INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT COMMUNITY BOARD PUBLIC HEARING TONIGHT AFFECTING THE FUTURE OF THE SOUTH VILLAGE AND HUDSON SQUARE at 6:30 pm at the Saatchi Building, 375 Hudson Street, Ground floor, ‘S’ space (facing King Street).

You can read more about the proposed Hudson Square Rezoning and its potential impact upon the South Village HERE.

Please also read an op-ed in today’s Villager newspaper outlining why it is so important that we make changes to the proposed rezoning and ensure that it is coupled with landmark protections for the South Village HERE.

If you can't make tonight's meeting (or even if you can), please come to the second public hearing on the Hudson Square rezoning on Wednesday, September 19th at 6:30 pm at the Fire Museum, 278 Spring Street (Varick/Hudson Streets), 3rd floor.

You can also help by writing to City officials who will vote on the Hudson Square rezoning plan and urge them to lower the height limits, and ONLY approve the plan IF landmark designation for the South Village also moves ahead (click HERE)

You can find out more about our efforts to preserve the South Village HERE and prevent inappropriate development in Hudson Square HERE. To support GVSHP’s work, click HERE.
