Puck Building Penthouse Addition Rejected
Earlier this month, the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) rejected a large proposed penthouse addition to the iconic Puck Building at Houston and Lafayette Street. The Puck Building is one of New York’s most distinctive and beloved landmarks, and GVSHP (among many others) felt that the proposed addition did not respect the building’s unique and iconic architecture. Read coverage of the decision in the New York Times/Local East Village and Crain’s NY.
The applicant has the option of returning to the LPC with a revised proposal. GVSHP will continue to closely monitor the situation and continue to advocate to ensure that the Puck Building’s special qualities are preserved. Next: 11/21/11
