City Rejects Latest Proposal for Rooftop Additions on the Puck Building

Puck Building AdditionsLast week the Landmarks Preservation Commission rejected – for the second time – the proposal to add two large additions to the roof of the Puck Building. At the original public hearing on this application back in September, the Commission had agreed with GVSHP’s testimony that the proposed rooftop additions would be too visible from the street and would overwhelm this beloved and iconic landmark. The applicant presented a revised proposal at last week’s public meeting, but it too was turned down. The Commission has asked the applicant to make further changes to decrease the visibility of the additions, and will vote on the next iteration of the proposal at a future public meeting.

To learn more about this issue or to get involved, visit our Landmarks Applications Webpage, which provides photos of the original and revised proposals as well as information on upcoming public meetings. The site also allows members of the public to sign up to receive updates on the status of this and other landmarks applications.
