NYU Expansion Plan: Press Conference/Hearing/Vote Thursday 2/23; Elected Official Progress!
 CRITICAL REMINDER: GVSHP, NYU faculty and students, and a broad range of community groups will be holding a press conference Thursday at 5pm outside St. Anthony’s Church, south side of Houston Street east of Sullivan Street (weather permitting; otherwise inside the church downstairs) to call upon the Community Board and elected and city officials to vote NO on the NYU plan, its required zoning changes, and its proposed takeover of public land. SIGN UP TO TESTIFY AT THE FINAL COMMUNITY BOARD #2 PUBLIC HEARING ON THE NYU EXPANSION PLAN, or just come show support! Sign up between 6 and 6:30 pm, and urge the Community Board to VOTE NO on the NYU PLAN. The Community Board’s final vote is Thursday night – the first official vote in the public review and approval process. Meeting is at St. Anthony’s Church, Sullivan and Houston Streets.
CRITICAL PROGRESS IN ELECTED OFFICIAL OPPOSITION TO NYU PLAN!: For months, hundreds of people have written, called, e-mailed, and signed petitions to elected officials, urging them to oppose the NYU Expansion plan. Now Assemblymember Deborah Glick and State Senator Tom Duane have come out strongly AGAINST the current NYU Expansion plan. While these State legislators do not get to vote directly on the plan, they deserve credit for taking this important step forward.  As the Borough President, City Planning Commission, and City Council will soon be voting on the plan, we should also encourage Assemblymember Glick and Senator Duane to reach out to their fellow elected and appointed officials and urge them to vote NO on the NYU plan.
