Countdown to City Hall Rally and Hearing on NYU Plan 6/29
 THIS IS IT – THE FINAL STRETCH IN THE PUBLIC REVIEW PROCESS FOR NYU’S MASSIVE EXPANSION PLAN. THIS FRIDAY THE CITY COUNCIL WILL HOLD THE LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT PUBLIC HEARING YET BEFORE IT MAKES ITS FINAL DECISION ABOUT THIS DEVASTATING PLAN – PLEASE ATTEND!
Our phone zap and e-mail campaign has flooded Councilmembers’ offices – but now we need to tell them in person that the NYU Expansion Plan is WRONG FOR THE VILLAGE, WRONG FOR NEW YORK CITY, AND WRONG FOR NYU.
GVSHP and local and citywide community groups will be joined by NYU faculty, staff, and graduate workers for a rally on Friday just before the public hearing, calling upon the City Council to VOTE NO.
HOW TO HELP:
 ON FRIDAY:

COME TO THE STEPS OF CITY HALL FOR AN 8:30 AM RALLY/PRESS CONFERENCE – Please arrive by 8:15 am to get through security and bring photo ID (enter at Broadway and Murray St. or Centre St. and Park Row -- MAP)

COME TO CITY HALL FOR THE CITY COUNCIL’S PUBLIC HEARING ON THE NYU EXPANSION PLAN at 9:30 am

Bring photo ID to enter

Sign up to testify (use letters HERE as sample testimony)

Expect no more than 2 minutes to speak

Bring 20 copies of your testimony IF POSSIBLE

Be prepared to stay for as much of the day as possible (you may have to wait a long time to speak; testimony can be submitted in writing if you have to leave; if you leave before called or don’t want to testify, we will have signs and stickers so you can show your opposition. Any time you are able to give will help, but the longer you can stay the better!)
BEFORE FRIDAY:
Remember – the NYU plan is ILLEGAL under current zoning and agreements. It can ONLY happen if the City Council votes to overturn the current zoning and agreements, and votes to give away public land.
