Save the South Village Video Campaign Expands
Last week GVSHP launched its video project to Save the South Village with actor/performer John Leguizamo speaking about the importance of this neighborhood’s history and urging the City to move ahead with promised landmark designations for this increasingly threatened neighborhood (view it HERE).
Today Matt Umanov, owner of the esteemed Umanov Guitars, located in the South Village, talks about why the neighborhood is so important to New Yorkers like him, urging Mayor Bloomberg and Landmarks Preservation Commission Chair Tierney to save the neighborhood.
Please consider passing along this and the other videos from our Save the South Village campaign to friends, family, and neighbors.
And most importantly, HELP SAVE THE SOUTH VILLAGE! Write to City officials (HERE) urging that they protect the neighborhood, and speak at Thursday night's Community Board #2 public hearing and vote on the Hudson Square rezoning, which could either save, or accelerate the destruction of, the South Village (details HERE).
