St. Vincent’s/Rudin Meetings

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) and Community Board 2 have just announced meetings regarding the St. Vincent’s/Rudin project. On Tuesday, May 12, the Landmarks Preservation Commission will be holding a public meeting (i.e. no public testimony) on the St. Vincent’s plan to demolish the O’Toole Building and construct a new 286 ft. tall hospital, and the Rudin plan to adapt four of the hospital’s buildings east of 7th Avenue for residential use and to demolish the other four for new condo construction. The LPC has recently approved the St. Vincent’s hardship case and their design for the new 286 ft. tall hospital tower, and may be rendering final approvals on the hospital and condo applications. After such approvals are rendered, the project still requires approval of the City Council and the City Planning Commission, and faces a legal challenge. That meeting will begin at 9 am at the Swayduck Auditorium at the New School, 65 Fifth Avenue (13th/14th Streets).

Community Board 2 has also just announced a public meeting on the design of the planned public open space at the St. Vincent's triangle bounded by 7th Avenue, Greenwich Avenue, and West 12th Street this Thursday, May 7 at 6:30 pm also at the New School’s Swayduck Auditorium, 65 Fifth Avenue (13th/14th Streets). St. Vincent’s and the Community Board are working together on the design of the public open space at this location.
