Countdown to Borough President’s NYU Vote
 Borough President Stringer has thirty days from the Community Board’s February 23rd vote to issue his non-binding recommendations for NYU’s massive Village expansion plan. GVSHP and a coalition of community groups, NYU faculty, and NYU students have urged him to hold a public hearing before he makes his decision, and we are waiting to hear if he will do so.
The Borough President can recommend approval of the plan, approval with conditions, denial unless certain conditions are met, or just denial. We strongly urge him to recommend DENIAL, and to urge NYU and the City to go back to the drawing board and consider a different approach to NYU’s growth – one which would not destroy the character of the Village, and would better serve New York City and the university.
